In general, I thought that a colored leather jacket would look good not only as an analogue of his truck-shaped patterns, but also as a good cover for civilian clothes (considering that Optimus is a participant in the Cybertronian war). So I don’t exclude the possibility that perhaps he has holsters for knives under his jacket (I don’t remember what they are called, but these holsters are attached to the torso)
Yea he used to be a librarian, though the war went on for so long I don't think he could have returned to civilian life, but yea a Civilian turned Military Commander while Megatron was a Gladiator turned politician then tyranical warlord, though the leaps it makes kinda gives the Roman feels yea know?
