Nightmare is a calm guy but doesn't like anything on his back or to be ridden. He usually around swampy places or even caves.

Some believed he used to be a guardian in the Paradise world but 10 years before the war on Terra, things changed. Before the war, his coat was actually a pinkish white but after see people and possible other dutchies fallen from violence and death, he took that image and made him the way he is now. Just from simple things like hunted animals left behind to die. On a dark rainy day, he saw a deer that has been left for days due to the rotted and skeletal structure in the mud. He came closer to inspect it, to see if it died from old age or from poaching. He found out it was poached due to the antlers being sawed off. He checked his surrounds to find a few people, with camo clothing and guns. He was indeed a bit scared but the people were very fond of the white "stag" wondering around the forest on a gloomy day. So they "teased" him by luring him to more people. Soon he found out he was in a tight spot, surrounded by hunters with guns loaded. Soon after he doesn't remember much except blood everywhere and dead people around him, soon after Telephone and the archangels appeared wondering in god's name happened. "What in the world happened here?" Telephone chirped. He replied very simple, "I have no idea, your majesty." Soon after he was falling into the Abyss, losing everything. He woke up very skinny and covered in black goop. Everything but his white skeleton markings. Right before the civil war, he appeared again, looking over the war from below rather than in the air. Seeing the war started, some people looked at the black figure wondering around. People died one after another which made him a little stronger since he breathes decay and death. Sometimes when he touches the fallen warriors yet still alive, they saw him hovering over their helpless bodies. By touching them they decay, leaving a lifeless figure behind. After the war, his coat turns into a dark purple rather than black from being in the Abyss for so long. Now he serves between the Abyssal world and the Terra world. He usually shows up when there is darkness and death. He doesn't allow anyone to come near him because he takes everything into a threat.
