β For hundreds of years, the Silvertails have been a matriarchal society. Every 50 years, when the silver tailed comet appears in the night sky, the Silvertails choose a new leader. It has been said that during a hidden ceremony, the new queenβs antlers begin to grow, revealing the next leader of the clan. Were it to happen during any other night, the ruling matriarchs are known to slay their would be competition. After the ceremony, the previous ruler will then work as a royal adviser, but is not allowed to have offsprings after stepping down. Any living child of hers is send to another clan. The previous leader is also required to cut off her antlers during the ceremony, which the new queen will hang over her throne as a token of good health.β
