Finished digital vignette (no background) commission for Max Coyote! This is FateCoyote, an assassin fox/coyote mix. Her blade is a Wakizashi, so it's shorter than a Katana.
The pose that was desired was something close to this picture of Taki from Soul Caliber. http://www.fightersgeneration.com/c.....ers4/4taki.jpg I changed it up and refined the pose with several stock photos as anatomy reference for different parts (legs, arm, hand, etc), and got this!

Thank you! It's pretty easy once you get the hang of it. I start with some very faint directional lines to establish the fur direction. Then I start thinking about the bigger "chunks" of fur, and where they taper into points, then outline those. Then I paint on top of it all with teeny litle thin strokes of the individual hairs to bring it all together! I hope that makes sense. XD Once day I'll do a short tutorial.
Thanks Intru! I tried to show that the blade is hand crafted by giving it a "cloud line" (the wavy line in the middle indicating the layers of folded steel) instead of a straight line like a pressed steel sword. A hand crafted blade would be more like what a professional assassin might use I thought. ^^
