Amber Sage - Fateful Encounter
“The fates say… You - me - my place, at three. Hey, don’t look at me - just the messenger.”
When you’d heard of the Amber Sage, the ancient and most msyterious lord of the Goldenrod Plane, you hadn’t been expecting him to be so… forward. You came here looking for your fate, and instead, he presented you with a date…? What was this orange lummox on about? You were flattered, sure… But, everything felt a little off.
When you’d heard of the Amber Sage, older than words, counselor to gods, you were expecting maybe… a fearsome and intimidating creature - or maybe something so old and wizened that it had lost all tethers with the mortal world. Instead you found… a pushy, friendly, and most-certainly charming unicorn. Well… he was intimidating, you got that right at least - between his deep orange eyes, huge frame - he stood at nearly seven and a half feet, not to mention his thick muscles and thicker-yet middle - and the sheer power radiating off of both him and his enchanted items…
It just… wasn’t the way all of this was supposed to go! You had other things in mind, other dreams, other hopes, one’s that didn’t involve some striking stud in the middle of a field! I mean, sure, it was a nice field, and you felt more at place and at home in that plane than anywhere you’d been before… and you felt… a pull coming from somewhere just over the hill… Was that… his “place?”
Oh… what was the time? Oh! Quarter till three. This was all so fast - all so strange… The unicorn’s reassuring, confident smile had remained consistent that whole time. His strong, attractively ample frame became all you could see. The field you were in was lit romantically, as though evening’s shroud had settled upon it, although you knew there was no chance of that. The trees just outside the field looked as they aught to - it was strange… as though some great, invisible line divided the colors of the sky, and the colors of your world.
You knew he wouldn’t be upset if you said no - but you were also keenly aware that he already knew where this was going to go… It was fate after all… And, if you accepted his prophecy, offer, or whatever you wanted to call it… Technically, this journey wouldn’t have been for nothing, would it have been? This… must’ve been what was meant to be.
A golden glint flashed in the eye of the Amber Sage as he turned and started towards that hill, beckoning for you to follow. You had no choice but to follow - the romantic embers of evening followed closely in your wake, diligent in their duty to last through whatever pleasantness followed.

Here’s another prismacolor piece I finished just yesterday - a fantasy piece, and a sort-of romantic one to boot! I’m quite happy with how this hunk of a charmer turned out - this is the first time I’ve prismacolored a unicorn, and I think the look is very fitting for how I draw these fellas. I hope you all enjoy the Amber Sage as much as I did making him!
