Way back in 2004, I was working on a series of sketches when I was inspired by the myth and legends of various sea monsters of yesteryear, among them that captivated me were the legends of sea dragons that once terrorized sailors during the age of wooden ships and iron men. Due to the superstitious nature of mankind, as they embarked and explored the vast oceans, I was thinking to myself: "What if I can tell a story through the perspective of the sea dragons?"

Therefore, I ended up sketching three (later 4) dragons that would help make the core of the stories, among them is the main focus: Markus.

Character Description)

Markus: Markus is a curious and young sea dragon, somewhat naive and eager to explore, he's the ring leader among the sea dragons. He lives with his mom.

Mindy) Mindy is the token female among the cast of sea dragons, she shares Markus' curiosity but is more serious-minded. She's always been fascinated by the surface world and wants to meet a human someday even though everyone warns her that humans can be dangerous. She lives with both parents.

Cyrus) Cyrus is the resident "cool guy" or so he proclaims. He can be boastful, eager to stir up trouble among Markus and company, especially spinning wild tales to hide his deeper feelings and fears. He also has an embarrassing fondness for various critters such as frogs and eels. He wishes to become a terror of the seas someday and make humans fear him.

Raz) Raz hails from a foreign sea many fathoms down compared to where Markus and company live, although not based on any nationalities in reality, when I designed him, I envisioned him being somewhat based on East Asian and Indian nationalities. He's shy and alienated by his new surroundings but is eager to talk for hours about his former home. He lives in a large sea shell close to where Cyrus and Markus live. He wants to be a cultivator of seaweed when he grows up.
