True Dragons are long-lived creatures. When one dies, it is a very, VERY rare event. An even rarer event is finding a True Dragon carcass out in the open; whenever possible, they seek out the most secluded spot possible to die in peace. However, an event as rare as this occurs from time to time… and the resulting consequences are often… impactful.

An Ascended Arcadian Carnosaur is an individual of this species that had stumbled upon and fed from a dead True Dragon. By consuming the magically charged flesh, it mutated. It adopted draconic features including spikes, scaly armor, and startlingly enough, a breath-weapon and increased intelligence.

While not sapient, Ascended Arcadian Carnosaurs are far more cunning than their average relatives, which makes them more efficient and dangerous hunters. Their increase in power also allows them to fend off more invasive species like the Grand Flame Drake.

Currently, there are only 3 known individuals of this variant of Carnosaur. Whether the acquired features are hereditary is yet to be seen.
