The initial stages of egg development are the riskiest. Sometimes, fate decides to end the life of a particular wyvern and stops its life in the egg on its own. There is no way to prevent this tragedy, and certainly no solution after the fact. However, among wyverns, there is a legend that long ago, some desperate parents used Virpulis to revive their childs. If these beliefs are to be believed, the very first sea monsters appeared in this way.
The developmental period for each egg varies from 2 to 6 years. Upon successful growth, the hatchling can emerge from the egg at any moment it chooses, waiting for suitable conditions for itself, even without yet realizing who or what it is. Overly anxious parents in the later stages may start to wander around the world with the egg to "add" whatever the finicky egg might be lacking.
