This was originally going to be a Christmas present for my friend. Of course, that didn't happen or this would have been uploaded months ago.

I was originally going to have this as just part of a much larger scene, but I ran into trouble upon finding out that I had no idea how to do the other characters who were going to be in the scene, so I cropped it at the sketch stage to just cover the one character I knew I could draw. Even then, the period outfit was a whole new area to attempt. I don't think I've got it quite right, but I got fed up with being indecisive about whether or not it was done and showed it to Ally. She thought it was good enough, so here it is.

I probably redrew the background three times, and it's probably the only part of the image I can definitely say I like.

Not much to say in the way of technical details. Only two visible layers go into this output image (although several temp layers do exist in the working file). I did use the draw tools for guidelines when drawing the background, although I did go over them on another layer by hand with the mouse to keep the look consistent.
