A lot of people's first impression of Spike seems to be how 'badass' he is. While there's absolutely nothing wrong with that (especially since he does specifically try to look that way), it does make me laugh sometimes since Spike is kind of laughably ineffectual most of the time.
So that idea inspired me to doodle up this little comic-y thing. The random vixen is just a random vixen...I seem to always draw foxes when I'm looking for a 'filler' character. ...and I just made myself laugh more at how calling her a 'filler' character has double meaning here. Yeah, I'm easily amused.
As for the expressions, I blame watching too much anime lately. It's fun for expression-inspiration, really.
So...things that Spike is NOT: Scary. At all.
Things that Spike IS: HUNGRY. So very hungry. Seriously, he's effing insatiable!!
Glad I cleared that up!

eh heh...take it that means I managed to pull off the slouchy 'dejected' look properly then? XD; (am experimenting with poses/body language/expressions here, haha)
Don't worry, he does still manage to bite people by being extra stealthy...or biting drunken/unconscious people... XD
He's got a crazy appetite though, so would still gladly accept 'donations'...though can't guarantee the not killing you part, for the same reason! Heheh.

I can help you out with your blood-starving problem!? *Hands you a Kanohi Avsa (Mask of Hunger)* Now you can feed on you victims physical energy and inner-light as well! http://biosector01.com/wiki/images/.....200px-Avsa.PNG You only need to get within 5 feet of your victim to use this Kanohi Masks power!
This mask will also allow you feed on your victims positive emotions as well! http://bionicle.wikia.com/wiki/Avsa

aww poor Spike *patpats* don't be so adorably dejected, there's plenty of squishy bloody people to go around.
Also good job on the hands :o I've been slowly getting worse at hands lately because of how my style has been evolving :/
Maybe I'll doodle an adora-spike sometime >:3

Well, he does still successfully scare people sometimes! The 'badass' impression is 100% intentional, but sometimes people like this vixen actually realise he's a scrawny wimp instead of freaking out at the biting attempt (or just plain fight back reflexively and of course kick his arse) XD
Well he'd definitely be most grateful for such a 'donation', seeing as how he's that sort with a bottomless stomach (yes, he does eat...drink...whatever) and is constantly famished!
Fair warning, though...that same appetite issue makes him very prone to getting carried away, so you'd want to be prepared in case he tries to suck you dry. XD

X3 I really do like the faces. They're very effective and bringing the message across of what the character's are currently thinking/their emotions. I think you got them down really nice here. I also like seeing your "rougher" sketchy art like this because it has a lot of gesture/fluid motion in it and feeling. It's nice. :D
Thanks muchly on the poses and expressions thing, I'm really tryin!
...though it's rather depressing/discouraging how people always seem to like my sketches better than my finished art (and even outright saying just that most times...) :/ I really put a ton of work (and time...so much time, ugh) into inking and colouring my stuff, but doing that apparently turns it stiff and undynamic and boring...

I just generally like sketches. I am a weirdo. I can't get enough pre-production/concept/design/brainstorming art, but that's also my #1 interest when it comes to my own interest in my art as well so don't take it personally. X3 I am also just bad at commenting sometimes when it comes to full stuff!!!
Sorry for this long response, wanted to explain some stuff better and in context. Maybe you can give me advice or something...
I DO sorta get how people like to see sketches, to be able to see the underlying structure/gesture stuff, since it's sorta neat to see people's processes. The end result shouldn't end up worse than the start, obviously, or I'm definitely doing something very very wrong while finishing it. So...that's kinda upsetting.
It's way more upsetting though when I spend 12+ hours colouring my art most of the time, not to mention the inking it...and way more than half the time I cannot believe how much time I waste and get really depressed about that most of the time. I don't feel like I should be taking so long to make art, and it's frustrating on top of this that I only have one colouring style I ever use and cannot make any other ones look 'right' to me...I have a sketch from months and months ago that I want to finish, but I have no idea how I want to finish it (because I want to use a different style of colouring)...
Also, I completely forgot to point out in my first comment...but, this actually isn't even a sketch. I started it planning to finish it in black and white with the ink-shading like this, and the sketching was on layers under this that got deleted. So...I also feel pretty awful about the line art being so scribbly on this that it looks like a first draft, too...
Guh.

Naw I totally understand that beacuse I feel the same way, and so do most other artists, but that's partially why I am removing my art from the public face of the internet under this name for a while because caring too much about that stuff can ruin a person. I was much happier in 2007-2008 when I was just sort of keeping my art to myself and my friends and just trying to improve without worrying about how much time it took or if anyone liked it or commented on it or anything like that, just improvement.
I definitely don't think this looks like a first draft though. My first drafts on the computer are like a massive jumble of scribbles that barely make any sense and I usually have to do 2 or 3 sketch layers on top of it before I have something coherent, if I am lucky i just have one sketch on top of the jumble of lines. XD
Here's a good example:
http://www.synchrastudios.com/galle.....ont-sketch.jpg
That was draft 1. I had to do 2 drafts on top and eventually I got this:
http://www.synchrastudios.com/galle.....ront-small.jpg
But if you just look at that first one it's like.. what?
Or if you look at the lines behind these (light gray):

I always do exactly the same number of drafts... scribble 1st layer, fix up and detail on 2nd, then ink goes on 3rd.. This is the 3rd layer on this picture :c So, appreciate that you have those examples and all, but it's exactly what I'm already doing x.x
I think you misunderstood what I said? I want to improve as an artist, not appease everyone else, but if I were to make my art private only I would stop drawing completely. I feel ABSOLUTELY and always feel like I've wasted my time if I draw something I don't show... for advice I meant about different colourings or something...that kind of thing...
dunno I'm sick but maybe you can decode that

oops wasn't done...
These:

http://www.synchrastudios.com/galle.....yscosketch.jpg
you'll notice that they don't match the second draft or 3rd draft at all. (the black lines are the 2nd or 3rd on those.)
Anyways, don't feel bad, that's normal. :D

'Good' vampire? What makes you think that? He really does make lunch out of people who don't actually try to fight back (passed out hobos, people who're paralysed with fear, that sort of thing)...the random vixen just happens to totally not be falling for his posturing. :P
You wanna see it? Okay! http://www.furaffinity.net/view/5340325/ Nom nom!
...a knife or a gun to stop a vampire, though? Heh.
