Before he became the lich that would go on to terrorize Deadwood, Yzbihn was once a boy like all of us. Yzbihn was born to two circus performers and would spend his childhood in the troupe. His father was a semi-famous acrobat but was largely absent from Yzbihn's life. His mother was a mystic and fortune teller. Being born blind in one eye, the superstitious ramnen believed her other eye gave her mystic powers even among mages. Naturally her magical affinity only ratified these ideas.

When her son Yzbihn began showing magical sensitivity as well, she became his first tutor. She taught him the basics of arcane control but felt within her son a reservoir of untapped power and knew her boy was destined for more than the circus ever could give him.

She was not wrong.
