Okay, this is a song I started writing in the shower at Confuzzled, of all places, when I was pondering the dragon race of Skyrim and how the genocidal pogrom against them in following centuries seems to have been a bit disproportionate. It turned into a song from a dragon's viewpoint, bemoaning the mess they made of the old days and the fact that history is written by the winners, who had a very definite anti-dragon bias. This idea was kicking around for a while after that, but I finally started to get things into gear just before Anthrocon. And when I returned from AC, the rest of the song just fell into place.

So here we have a prog-industrial epic about the persecution of the dov. Much of this is actually canon with Skyrim (drawn from the in-game books "The Dragon War" and "There Be Dragons"), though Fahdonmul's assertion that if the dragon race is ever completely eradicated, Akatosh will call it quits and send Alduin to destroy everything - that is pure speculation. But if you were one of the last dragons mourning the virtual extinction your race you'd want to believe that too, right...?

This is the first attempt - there were a few things I could probably do better, but I kind of want to get this out there rather than keep poking and prodding it.
Recording was done on an Otari MX80 2" 24-track tape machine, with the vocals originally tracked on a TASCAM TSR-8 1/2" 8-track tape, the song was mixed to 1/4" tape on a Studer A807. One tape edit was needed.
Instruments and equipment used:
Korg Triton Rack, Roland Alpha Juno 1, Behringer Solina, Oberheim OB-X8, Alesis DM10, Roland JV1010, Cheetah MS-6, Moog Voyager, Waldorf MicroWave Mk1, Dexibell SX8, Manikin Memotron, Ahlborn Archive organ module, Hammond XM1 with H&K Rotosphere, Neumann TLM102 microphone, Small Clone chorus pedal, Behringer overdrive pedal, Watkins Copicat and Lexicon Alex processors.
The conversations between Fahdonmul and Mr. Dragon were taken from my video "Saving Private Dragon", where Fahdonmul royally screws up the Elder Scroll cutscene.
Lyrics:
We were made to dominate
And this we understood
All who sought to challenge us
Would be crushed like rotten wood
Hear the mighty dragons roar
Watch the people run and shout
But all good things must have an end,
As we were going to find out
But if the last of us should fall
Our god will come to end it all
We were made in our god's form
Thought our actions were His Will
Thought the world was ours to take
Thought its people ours to kill
Over time our dragon cults
Would squeeze our worshippers too dry
We put our trust in fire and scales
We thought that we could never die
But if the last of us should fall
Our god will come to end it all
Mr. Dragon: "Okay... What is happening?"
Fahdonmul: "I'm Fahdonmul. I came from the future to try and rescue you."
Fahdonmul: "...And then we had an anti-dragon cult who slaughtered our whole race down to single digits!! That's why I'm trying to rescue you!"
Mr. Dragon: "...Oh."
Fahdonmul: "If we had only picked less psycho dragon priests in the first place, none of this would have happened!"
Once we ruled a continent
Our reign was just and fair
But as our rule spread outwards
We forgot the need to care
For all our ancient wisdom
We had picked the road to hell
The clock was ticking down
Until our subjects would rebel
They slew the vicious tyrant
And the cruellest overlord
Then they turned on their own allies
And they put us to the sword
We pledged to serve the emperor
If he'd keep us alive
But the slaughter just continued
'til we numbered roughly five
No sympathy for a failed race
But were we really that bad?
Dragons don't all think the same
Some showed pity and remorse
Lent our aid to help mankind
Stop our brother's greedy course
From our inch they took a mile
They used the weapons that we gave
Turned them all against their friends
Sent their allies to the grave
But if the last of us should fall
Our god will come to end you all
And if the last of us should fall
Our god will come to end you all
So we, the last survivors
Who have turned our tails and hid
Used our centuries in hiding
To reflect on what we did
If the prophecies speak truly
If we get a second chance
May we try to live more wisely
In that happy circumstance

Thanks. It's kind of fascinating how similar it is to the anti-Cubi persecution in DMFA, except even worse because the dov aren't really able to rebuild their numbers. Like the 'Cubi, some kind of correction was necessary to knock some sense into them and topple their hubris, but IMHO it's gone too far in the other direction, especially with the pro-mortal ones getting slaughtered too as payment for their help. So if you were a survivor of those massacres I suspect you'd be pretty bitter about it too.
