Animation based on the Hana ni natte MV, from the Apothecary Diaries: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z9JZB08qy44
I wanted to practice with hands and shot changes, and I had the song stuck for a while, as well as Oishi in general XD
I felt this song was fitting to represent him and his change; going from a repressed swordsman, to a powerful mage who has finally accepted himself. Fire is his main element, and adquiring the red ropes was what allowed him to control his magic. Funnily enough, ropes are a symbol of freedom for him, though it should be the opposite.
The song Hana ni natte (Become a flower) in general has the message of accepting yourself the way you are, which applies to him being intersex. Born centuries ago, before there was that much knowledge about it, he tried to overcompensate his masculinity, hence why he picked up the sword (the main reason was helping people). He is finally happy now, and wears any kind of clothing without any worry. Also, some flowers (mostly orchids I think) are considered an intersex symbol.
