So this story is based on true events that happened to me. I've obviously changed it for Shelby's specific situation, but the bones are the same. A little weak for this weeks TP but I think it still works out lol.
Some background on what I actually went through. In 2008 I decided I wanted a new Mustang and I wanted a V8 this time (had V6's prior). I went to the closest dealership and let them know the specifics - Red, V8, Convertible, manual transmission, and the fancy appearance package with the fake hood scoop and rear spoiler. Salesman said they didn't have anything like that on the lot and would have to order it. Also said that a V8 was too much for me, and that someone like me shouldn't be driving a manual. He actually told me these things.
I left in a huff and didn't buy a car there, but a few days later a dealership way across town called me and said that they had exactly what I wanted, and would absolutely sell it to me. Not only that but they sold it to me at a discount because it had been sitting on the lot a few months and they needed to get rid of it. Not sure how they got my info, but I ended up with the car I wanted so, wasn't complaining.
Anyway, hope you enjoy the story!

I wouldn't say this is weak for the prompt in the least bit. Shelby's frustration with the salesman is quite understandable even if he is using the guise that it would be for her own good he not sell her the car she wanted. I hope the real events this one is based on weren't nearly as aggravating for you.
At least she got what she needed in the end and then a little extra too it would seem!

The real events were pretty aggravating, but not as aggravating as I wrote for Shelby lol. Like... who doesn't want to sell someone a car? Ah well, it was a long time ago at this point.
Everyone got what they needed in the end at least :)
Thank you FtD! And thank you very much for the fav!

Ugh, people can be really annoying. But it turned out well, especially with the discount. Though hard to say how they got your info. Would that previous car dealership inform them about you? I would expect them to try to sell you a car, not to make you go to somewhere else.
And I think it's a good story working well with this prompt! I agree with FtD.

If I were to guess, my info went into some Ford database and for some reason the guy put what I was looking for even though he didn't think I could drive it? Most likely so I could get a call back later from that same dealership, but joke was on them.
I guess cars that sit on sales lots for a long time are "losing money" though I'm not clear on how that works. They were desperate to get rid of it and didn't mind dropping the price a bit.
Thank you, and thank you for the fav!!!

Ahahah, it did turn out alright in the end! Sometimes it seems like life pushes you down, then goes "alright you took your licks, I guess I'll give you what you want."
Hey if it's the car you want, that's all that matters! I always tell people I don't know how to drive automatics. It is getting harder and harder to get manuals though, at least in the states. Thankfully they still build Mustangs with a manual option :)

I don't know! You'd think if they really wanted, they could have asked the other dealership to send them the car I ended up buying. I don't know how that works exactly though. Either way, the dude had options other than being insulting lol.

loved it... and 4K for a new car takes me way back.
As to the mustang - that brings back memories. I had a room mate in 1973... just a spoiled rich kid. His father bought him what i am guessing was a Boss 302. He pulled me over in the middle of nowhere to show it to me. The engine was a V-8 and it had more chrome on it than a teenager's braces.
Unfortunately, it did kill him. He hit a tree eight feet in the air.

Yeah, I did a bit of research to see what a Boss 302 would have cost in 1969 lol, 4k was expensive for a new car back then, now you'd be lucky to get a car for 40k!
I love Mustangs, I'm on my 4th one. Sorry about your roommate though :( Some of those old muscle cars had a lot of power but were hard to control.
Thank you Vix, and thank you for the fav :)
