In my fantasy world, I decided that Flickie will perish somehow (possibly a failed mission) and he meets "The Consciousness." The Consciousness is a black hydra that manipulates the universe and determines law and order. They fight, but The Consciousness doesn't perish. It does cease the fight, and offers Flickie something extraordinary.

Because during Flickie's short time alive, he spent his life; no, dedicated his life to the only person he ever truly loved. He did whatever it took to keep her safe, happy and understood. He didn't want to do anything else but be by her side.

The Consciousness sees into his soul and reads his memory. It decided Flickie possessed something incredible. It recognized Flickie's passion and prowess for Love. Love is a new concept for The Consciousness. So it does not know how to apply law and order to this concept. Instead, it birthed Flickie as a god. The god of Love.

Flickie can't return to Catt but when she eventually dies, they are reunited. He can however, enter her soulspace to check on her Residents. And when he does, he leaves Filament there to be with Cherrie Bomb, so she doesn't wilt.
