you settle at its snout. chirping and hoping it knows. you dont want to give up the chick, you dont think you can. but you wont give up your Demon either.
you exist with it, for a long time. ignoring the ache in your legs, the restlessness of sitting still for a day. you ignore the chick as it plays around the two of you.
the sun is setting, its glow washing over the lake once more and still you dont move.
as night begins to fall, you Demon rises. a quick clack of its jaws near your head doesnt even cause you to flinch. you know its meaning. your Demon will sink back into the lake now.
