Frecce Tricolori , Italian Aerobatic Team
At EAA Oshkosh this year, the Italian Tricolor Aerobatic display team known professionally as Frecce TriColori, AKA TriColour Arrows, made their first appearance to EAA Oshkosh since 1986! THIS is why I went to EAA this year, to see something on my Bucket List.
The Italian version of the US Navy's Blue Angels or US Air Forces Thunderbirds or the RAF's Red Arrows, Canada's Snow Birds. Flying Aermacchi MB-339's (An advanced jet trainer/ light attack aircraft) in eleven ship formations doing various aerobatics.
The TriColors didn't do a fun aerobatic display they would normally do, but instead did a few close pass flights instead since they are performing in Milwaukee at the Waterstone Bank Air and Water show July 27th a full show.
Known for their Green, White and Orange trailing smoke in the displays, They sparked up the show at the foot of the runway, allowing the Heritage flight to land first, by blowing the tricolored smoke plume up. And the air Show announcer said "Well!! The Italians are in Town!" Much to a massive cheer from the crowd.
This leaves the RAF's Red Arrows, Surya Kiran (India's aerobatic team) , White Arrows and Blue Impulse (Japanese teams) and Patrouille de France and Midnight Hawks (Finland) on my must see in person list.
