Every once in a while, the Pioneer returns to Earth for maintenance. For all Terran crew members, it's a time to visit friends and family back on Earth. But for the alien crew complement, it's the perfect opportunity to partake in some tourist activities. The summer attracts a few of them to the beaches. Most of them want to sunbathe or swim in the waters, but Cobenino came with a bolder idea: they could go surfing! Little Mi'oki enthusiastically joins them on his own board (don't worry, his mother is watching on the beach from a distance) and even the otherwise cautious Tiayneq wants to join in on the fun, as this place reminds him of home, but he wanted to try out something new on the water. The only problem is that he is having trouble carrying his own board to the sea, as his body shape isn't ideal to carry such large and unwieldy objects...

Cupcake is not original, but this AU version of the character is, including the name Cobenino. (Of course I have permission to use them from the original artist)
Most of my other characters on the Pioneer’s crew are originally mine. Only Fris, Hira and Achaius are originally by other people, and a few of the species (Kalasians, Vidari, Cetians, Eduani) aren't mine either. Hedseons aren't completely original either, but their culture is, and I'm going to make a story about that. Stay tuned!

Oh I will. Wait, rank wise, I've been able to come up with this.
Enlisted:
Medior
Senior
Sergeant
Commissioned:
(That's straightforward)
What is a "medior?" And why do those on temporary assignments use enlisted style rank insignia? Also, im not sure if my eyes saw wrong, but I'm sure one of the Lieutenant Commanders wore the insignia of a regular lieutenant.

Yeah, a few errors sneaked in with the rank insignia. However, the difference between enlisted personnel and temporary assigned personnel is that the enlisted personnel have a hexagon, while all military staff have a star.
The Medior rank is one rank up from the Junior rank. The entire enlisted personnel ranking, in ascending order, is as follows:
- Junior
- Medior
- Senior
- Sergeant
- Principal
- Master
Though at the moment, no one on the Pioneer has a Master rank, and the only named character with a Principal rank is Dr. Tria Dalton.

irl there are situations where civvies are given ranks- specifically when they work in tandem with military personal, to make it clear where who is in the chain of command.
example would be emergency doctors having the rank of major (that's how my pacific dad got a military rank despite having fought justice to not get enrolled!)
