Usually, don’t post my concept artworks and sketches that often… I wonder why. Many people told me I should DO MORE and SHOW MORE concept artworks – alright, here we go!
This is the concept for my upcoming artwork. You can see the basic line art and basic shading, which helps me to maintain the correct light source here.
Media Used:
MEDION tablet and PHOTOSHOP 7.0
Working Time:

This picture will be finished with traditional media: markers, pencils, inks and acrylics! The format will be A3 (abot 30x40 cm).

Hehehe, thanks now! ^___^ And don't be alarmed... the message is from the battlefield. Something has happened to his brother... he was injured during a battle.
And Reptile just got out of bed, that's why he looks that way. It's very early in the morning... I think, it's even still dark (and there should be some lantern for light).

So lets see...86 (average human life expectancy) DIVIDED BY 325 = 0.26 Average ratio for H/R age ratio and then its 110 x 0.26= SO that means he is between the age in human years between 28.6 and 37.5 So he is still young...LOL I thought he was like....55 or something... :D happyface!!!
Nice dramatics :3
Though something is bothering about his leg and inner thigh...is the muscle supposed to be going outwards down the leg or more of a curved around to the underside of the leg?
And is he emerging from a tent bed? Or cave?
And I think you should do more concept art too :)
World could always use another concept artist!

Thanks for the elaborate comment. ^__^
Yes, Reptile's "kinda emerging" from the tent here. It's some kind of tent, which is been lowered into the groud for protection. And the messenger is on high ground. Thus, we have perspective "shortening" of the legs - which would be much stronger in other cases.
I've used my body for reference and it looked fine to me - but maybe I will erase the black part below the inner thigh and exchange it with flesh. Guess, you're right - there should be one more muscle string visible. ^^

I didn't know you used cell-shading in Photoshop to help you determine lighting first before moving to real media. Very interesting idea, I guess it helps to prepare!
It's a great composition as always; although it may sound silly to say, the only real problem I have with it is Reptile's bottom lip. Looks bigger than normal. :S

This is a technique, I'm doing since this one --> http://reptile-universum.de/reptile.....nitesketch.jpg
It really helps to maintain the proper light source in the end. ^^ Though most of the grey shades will be exchanged with my usual cross hatching.
Furthermore, Reptile will be covered in scale texture ALL OVER! ^_____^ Meaning: my usual scale texture will be polished and sparkle all over the picture!!!!
Was about time.
His lower lip...? Hrm... I shall see if that should be corrected. He's like "Wwwwhaaa... brrr...what's going on?" here. He just got up... guess, his face is kinda "soft" ya know.

Ow, most certainly there IS!!!!!! ^__^ My pictures are only "poser exhibitions" on some occasions... mostly, I have an intention behind my works. And a larger story, alright!
It's refreshing to do some simple posers from time to time... ya know... just to show off and to present the character itself.
This time, my story goes on and Reptile's getting a disturbing message from the battlefields.
This is the current plot:
"A new foe threatens the land: from the far east region of Khaldor, countless thugs and clans of thieves have emerged. Under the leadership of the powerful "Khan" they march towards Aktes in the search for gold and blood. King Kyle, Admiral Xevon and Reptile Cynrik - King of Chron - face their new destiny. But this new enemy is most vicious and seems to be almost invincible..."

Interesting, I didn´t know that you add the traditional technque with a draw with the shadings cells maded in digital. Guess you´re one of the artists that I know that makes interesting mixing of techniques and makes a good result. I´ll look forward for the finishing work. What I can only say here is that you did an impressive work with this screen, ivin if you just only shows the hand of the messenger, it still an important element of the main idea of the image. ^ ^
Hehehe, thanks. But in fact, this here is the reference sketch, which I'll use to start my traditional piece! ^___^ I'll have to draw it completely new, but I don't have to invent it once again. It's set - now I can pencil it... and ink... and colour!
The hand was important, or else we wouldn't know where Reptile is staring at. :D

I've always enjoyed seeing your artwork of Reptile, and even the concept arts are some of the best art I've seen. I enjoy the way you did the lighting and the pose, as well as the facial expression, however it is a little difficult to see that the tent is actually a tent. At first I thought it was a cave until I saw the comments! Otherwise, this is an incredibly well done piece of work, and I look forward to seeing a colored version one day. :)
Awwwrhh....... your comment is highly appreciated. ^^ It took me a while to "master" lighting/shading the way I do it today. Okay... "master" is not right, but I really think I'm pretty good at it by now.
And it is all about light and shadow, anyway.
By the way, I have posed for REPTILE myself.... yepp. Though these are not my muscles, it IS my body. And my hand down there! ^^
Sure, the tent would be more believable if we could see the outlines of it... or the roof. But so far, it's enough to see that he's coming out of something! :D

I've written it down here somewhere...

You know, sir? Your work never ceases to amaze me. Not only this, but the speed in which you are able to produce them at. It took you three hours to push this out? Absolutely extraordinary. I really enjoy the feeling I get from this art work, the sense of suspense and sadness of envisioning Reptile receiving such horrible news so early in the morning. Almost strikes a chord in envisioning the same scenario of a mother and father receiving the news of their child involved in a car accident or a casualty of war. The use of lines and the black and white really drives this picture to deliver such a message. Of course I am interested in seeing it complete and in colour, but even without or done strictly in black and white portrays this situation brilliantly.
Very well done, Patrick. I do enjoy seeing your pictures in W.I.P format as well. Look forward to your next upload. :)

Hello and thanks for the comment. ^^ You know what? I am always pushing and kicking YOU to make more sketches... and what about me? Am I doing sketches???
Yes, but I don't show them so often. Well, but now I did! ^^
Thanks. It was a good choice, I think.
I might even... upload a small "movie clip" showing ALL steps of the picture....
Furthermore, this was MY body which I've used for reference. It's always the best reference there is!

This is definitely the sort of untimely message that nobody who has any loved ones in harm's way ever wishes to receive. Wonderful concept sketch here, and I do look forward to seeing a more complete version! Your works of Reptile have long been a treasure to enjoy.

is that a tent or a cave entrance? my advice for this pic... remove what's behind Reptile's back or make it plain since it looks like he is going out of gigantic vagina, and those heavyly wrinkled folds around him just make the impression even more suggestive :D ^^; when i saw it on the rpeview and was like "WTF is is going on?" :D
Hehehe, yeah... the "vagina look" occured to me, too! XD But I've already done a corrected INK (LINE ART) for this one. In the current line art, the lines "bend" more in some places - especially around his hand, which he's using to open the tent. Maybe, I should even add some buttons, I dunno... ^^
*snickers* Maybe, I can add some more black here and there, too. Yeah, THANKS! ^____^
