Interesting! I remember an episode of the 80s DUCKTALES series in which Scrooge's accountant/bodyguard Fenton accidentally introduces the concept of money to a harmonious mountain village. Before long, the villagers demand payment in bottlecaps for EVERYTHING, and paradise is ruined ;)
The problem with the rats is that they dig underground and sometimes they get sucked down there.
I had "defend the workshop" events where I could not find the last enemy, after looking around for a long time I found the last rat was below ground and it couldn't be killed until it surfaced.
