Virginius is a young garrison soldier in the military barracks of the city of Lapis-Alis. He is an orphan and has no known family, making him very dependent on the places and people he frequents on a daily basis. His best friend is Cadell Vertbois, who helps him train and is responsible for his scars and bruises.
He became blind almost a year earlier following a mysterious accident. The people around him are skeptical of his version of events, most despise and fear him believing him to be cursed. Cadell managed to convince their superiors to keep him on the condition that he undergo intensive training to compensate for his blindness.
