This was some art I made of an illusion wizard I made for Out of the Abyss: Synthia! This is absolutely my most favorite TTRPG character I've ever created. She was an experiment created by the green dragon Razag'thar though ended up having more free will than the dragon wanted, and kept Synthia around as basically a lab rat. She had her vocal cords removed as well, though Razag'thar would later enchant Synthia's throat so she could cast verbal spells when needed; most of the time, Synthia spoke using the spell minor illusion. She also had the Telekinetic feat, so she could cast mage hand without any components, so essentially she used her mage hand as her right paw while her actual right paw was reserved for casting minor illusion to speak/communicate. She also can cast silent image as well.
She was extremely sweet and invested in others, very curious and eager to learn, and though very intelligent, she was also very naive about the world and very trusting of others. She managed to escape from Razag'thar and managed to secure a job in the city of Gracklstugh as a bar waitress. She doesn't remember anything about her past, however, but has been slowly getting vague hints about her past in the form of nightmares when she met the rest of the party. (This was actually her third time escaping, with Razag'thar wanting to see how far she could get and wanting her to willingly come back to the green dragon. There were a lot of themes of abuse and Stockholm syndrome.) I also wanted to play into Synthia's sweet nature (as well as show that you do not need to do lots of damage in combat to be effective), so I never picked any damaging spells - the only damaging spell she had was the cantrip ray of frost, which I never had Synthia cast but it played into some of the ice theming I had going on for her.
Our DM eventually ended the campaign prematurely due to him being uncomfortable with the themes of madness in the campaign, due to something that happened with his mother around halfway into the campaign, so sadly I won't get to see the conclusion to Synthia's story. And due to how she was very specifically made for D&D 5e specifically (with me integrating a lot of the mechanical choices I made into her character, more than any other character I've done; I even specifically chose Tasha's Custom Lineage and played into the fact that she was wholly unique because of how that lets you make anything as your race) as well as the setting (her being so sweet and naive was so much more impactful in the setting/campaign of Out of the Abyss), I don't see myself reusing this character in Pathfinder 2e or anything else I end up playing.
Honestly there was so much with Synthia that I couldn't possibly cover it all here, so I'll leave it here. Definitely would like to make more art of her in the future though.
