Now I dunno... I always thought my pole was better than the short one they gave me to use. However... when it comes to the javelin... I think I'd prefer to use theirs. I ain't chuckin mine. I'm kinda attached to it.

History often has a way of being weirder than you can imagine.

Airguns can be quite loud, enough to make your ears ring. Most of my guns are moderated to some extent, but I have one pistol that has none and the muzzle report is boggling. It also detonates some of the oil every time it's fired so it makes smoke.
The Turkish shooter did have 'foamies' in his ears and that's all you really need. I hope he gets his dog back. >_>

As far as ear protection - way back in the days of the M1 and the .45, we had no ear protection. *snickers... of course, after that and working on aircraft most of my life I now wear hearing aids; but I mostly think of that as old age.

With the noise a weapon will make, it all has to do with the propellant. (but you knew that) I have to smile, because with all of the enhanced versions of weapons, and vehicle engines, they are all still based upon the originals.

It was a fake story on Facebook about his origins, that he was a former mechanic that became a famous shooter after a bitter divorce. It quoted him as saying, "Sharon, if you're watching this, I want my dog back." after his medal win.

Having worked around aircraft myself for 35 years my hearing is also damaged. For me it's tinnitus to the point my most uttered word is "What?".

Building on the fact about nudity: while "gymnastics" is the term for the physical practices, the Greek word "gymnos" means "nude". I looked it up a long time ago. It's believed that people exercised nude so others could see which muscles could have been toned.
