I like names that are words in other languages. Varen is Dutch for 'sail'! Varen was originally gonna be a ship's captain. When my idea for him changed the name stuck.
For Yulia? In Dark Souls, my first time in Undead Burg by mistake I hit the Merchant. I thought he was an enemy. He shouted her name and it just kinda resonated.
