A bit of backstory: Kenshiro is a red dragon who is best friends with Rook. He is knowledgeable about magic and history and has a good understanding of how magic works in different people. Outside of magic, he is a highly skilled martial artist. He combines his elemental skills with his martial arts to empower his strikes and movement in battle. He dreams of being an instructor who can teach people how to use their magic with their traditional combat skills. He hopes to someday help people understand their powers and know they have nothing to fear about being different. Kenshiro has a close relationship with Rook, a wolf who shares his interest in learning more about magic.

In his early childhood, he grows up with his mother and father. Two normal people without any magical abilities, however, Kenshiro is born with magic and able to use it at a young age. His parents are surprised when starts showing magic abilities, unsure of what best to do they support him however they can. They used shows and movies to try and translate it to his abilities. Despite his parents having no magical gifts, they do all they can to assist their son in learning his powers. He is grateful for his parents' help; their support helps him find ways to use and control his magic more effectively.

When Kenshiro started going to middle school, he also started taking karate classes. He is quick to find that his magic and martial art lessons can work together. He sometimes sneaks out to an abandoned mine from time to time to do some training with his magic abilities while being away from prying eyes. One of his outings to the old mines has him meet Rook, a wolf who is able to use magic too. Rook was looking for him because he was returning Kenshiro's notebook he left in class. From that moment forward, the two start to talk and hangout with one another. Kenshiro and Rook become friends and the two start practicing and learning magic together. Because of Rook, he starts finding more ways to use his elemental magic and learns that he can tap into the remains of magic around him. The two spend a large portion of their time together, training together and challenging the other to grow stronger. Their families start spending time together as well, a close friendship that goes all the way through college. Even then, Kenshiro trains to be a martial artist and combine his magic with his martial arts.

By the time they finish college, Kenshiro starts looking into what he needs to have his own dojo to teach people how to use their magic and martial arts in tandem. Thanks to magic being revealed in the world he figures it would be a good chance to start working towards his goal. He already has been training and working to improve himself as a martial artist, but he still needs to learn more about different types of magic and how each person interacts with it. Around this time, Rook reaches out to Kenshiro about a job at a Mystical Antique shop. Rook explains that this would be a good way for Kenshiro to start earning money and putting his magic-identifying skills to the test, it would also allow him to meet people who are gifted with magic and ask them questions to gather more information on how to go about training.

The idea of working at the shop and the fact they will go on adventures to different locations and find out about other magic out there is enough for Kenshiro to start working at the shop. Soon enough, Kenshiro along with Rook and many others start going on adventures and checking out the different magical items and history of ruins.
