WWII Japanese Civil Defence Helmet
This is my latest Pride and Joy.
A WWII Japanese Civil Defence Helmet (used during 1939-1945)
This particular helmet was used mainly by civilians during the war. It is very similar to the helmets worn by the imperial army of japan.
The name (last pannel, bottom right) is the original owners name which being Takashi
Its a great helmet, I'm pretty happy and lucky to have one.

Japan has one of the worlds largest armies still. However it is called the self defense force and they are constitutionally bound to not use it outside of Japan for war. That constitution was written by the US after the war. They have however been allowed to send them into peace keeping roles outside of Japan.
Initially their army was made as big as it was because of fears of Russian attack during the cold war. However now they keep it in case of war with China. There is no love lost between Japan and China and China has a nasty dispute with Japan over a few islands, so they may well need that military someday, especially if the US undergoes any form of collapse. Not likely, but having insurance is a good thing.

Actually, now just looking at it, it doesn't look like a "Takashi", it looks more of a "Takatsu" because of how the last character is written. But I looked up the word and there is no "Takatsu" so "Takashi" is probably your safest bet. Pretty historic treasure you got there. :3
Nope, its purely Japanese by the name inside and my research on it. I found the exsact same helmet on the net.
