Hey everyone!
I started sketching Alastor from Hazbin Hotel as a deer a long time ago and finally decided to finish it between other projects! I did struggle a little with his design at first, how he'd look as a deer, how the colours play, the hairstyle etc. but as soon as I was relatively convinced on what he'd look like in my style, I kept going!
Even if this piece might not be super big or special, I still took a lot of time colouring it to make sure things are as neat as possible, emphasizing his fur a bit more with coloured pencils to make him look fluffier and more like an actual animal. I'm especially proud of the overall colour scheme, loving the dicision of making his neck, all the way to the back and upper side of the tail a darker shade of red to make him look more interesting. Lastly, I did notice I started either too far up on the page or made him too big which is why I couldn't go with my original idea of adding his demon shadow anymore, but I tried to compensate that by adding this green magical aura around him with some of the demonic symbols that pop up whenever he's doing his dark magic and rituals. The contrast it creates in combination with the red truly gives me chills!
