Commission for Hua Sonrin x.com/HuaSonrin.
Commissioner’s context: In the afterlife, Oda Nobunaga and Yasuke talk about their depictions in entertainment, including the recent controversy of Assassin’s Creed Shadows. They noticed how the majority of the complaints are from non-Japanese, typically Americans or English-speakers using Google Translate to vent their complaints online. Yasuke said England because it was the only land of the English during the Sengoku Jidai/Warring States, roughly 1467-1601 AD, when Oda and Yasuke were alive. Even if they followed world history from the afterlife, they would still see the US, UK, and Commonwealth nations as linguistically English.

Same here.
AC never caught my interest, since I'm more into the F.S.P. genre like COD, GOW, and Halo at the time.
Having Yasuke in the game wouldn't be a bad idea, but the way these developers and crazed fans are doing Olympic Levels of gymnastics on why having Yasuke being the main star is sheer baffling.
Also doesn't help that Ubisoft is throwing insults and mockery at both fans and other developers, but they don't have anything to back up their insults when their games have been poorly for a while.
I.E. Skull and Bones

I play a lot of Samurai games. Assassin's Creed Shadows isn't the first game to feature Yasuke. it's just the most recent that features him as a playable character and also very high profile.
In all the years prior, people weren't bothered with him.
Now all of a sudden, people start bitching about him being a poor choice for a protagonist because he isn't japanese or whatever.
Meanwhile, I'm left wondering where those same complaints were back in 2017, when Team Ninja decided to make William Adams the protagonist for their action game Nioh.
There's so many samurai games that feature japanese protagonists.
Letting have Yasuke be a star in a game for a change isn't a bad thing and anyone who says otherwise is nothing but a tourist who doesn't play samurai games.

There isn't much history about Yasuke so people do like to romanticize his story. But in real life he probably was just Nobunaga's thing to show around like "Hey, look what I got". Nobunaga did like lots of Western stuff. People are also disappointed that the previous Assassins's Creed games you can choose a character "native" to that country and in Shadows it's just the female. I think it would've been the best that Yasuke was a side character you can interact with and do couple of missions with. But hey, the game is not released yet so maybe the opinions will change. But in the end I don't really care, never liked Assassin's Creed anyway. I stick with Afro Samurai.
There were Assassin's Creed games where you didn't play as a native of whatever place the game takes place in. Also... no offense, but the "it's just the female" part of your comment is pretty cringe, dude. I mean, yikes XD
Playing as a girl character isn't a bad thing. People certainly didn't mind for Tomb Raider and other games.

Well that just shows that I don't know anything about Assassins Creed and I'm just talking out of my ass. And I didn't mean anything bad about the playing as girl, I'm fine with that but people just wanted to play as either female or male Japanese person. But it is interesting to see and hear what this "controversy" is causing. And I hope this doesn't leave a bad taste to anyones mouth. We all have our opinions and I hope we can all be friends in the end.
no harm done and I definitely consider you a friend.
I didn't mean to imply anything and I'm sorry if I sounded that way. I just wanted to point out that it was a bit of a poor choice in words ^^;;
but yeah, long story short: there's a lot of samurai games, many of them featuring Yasuke, sometimes as an NPC, other times as a playable character and until now, people didn't had a problem with it.
Now he gets to star in his own game, which isn't a bad thing, especially with Assassin's Creed since that one is pretty far out series.
I mean, Assassin's Creed 2 ended with you having a fist fight with the pope in a high tech alien control rome beneath rome while the pope was using an alien mind control device XD
People were totally fine with that but suddenly having Yasuke being one of the playable characters is one bridge to far? suddenly this isn't "historically accurate" for a series that had fist fights with the pope and swords firing laser beams?
its so friggin dumb XD
