When you spot a lone Avali in a dense thicket, so brazenly standing right in your path, you've likely walked right into its pack's trap.
I had some issues with a brush and, while inspecting it in the brush editor, accidentally discovered an entire deactivated resource pack with tons of new brushes (technically old, since they are from a previous version of Krita). A few minutes of experimenting with these newfound brushes and almost all of my previous selection of favorited brushes had been replaced, along with a few new ones to join my selection.
Delighted with this new discovery, the rare and coveted late night motivation seems to have struck me and I doodled this in about 20 min. It's a bit "fuzzy"/undefined, but for having little prior experience with this style of painting, I think it turned out pretty well.
The depicted Avali is generic and belongs to no one.

Experimenting successfully. I like paths and "what's-down-there" gaps, this picture seems to maybe know why.
...that said, he really is just standing there dotdotdot menacingly, and if he's not friendly then I feel like it's probably too late for turning around to make any difference

Thank you! For both the comment and the fave!
They really are just menacing there... standingly!
You know that "clever girl"-scene from Jurassic Park? The one just standing there... menacingly, is just to distract their pack's quarry so that they can surround it. The moment you notice the one just standing there... menacingly, it's already too late.
The question isn't if there's still time to escape, it's what they have coming to greet you? Spears and teeth? Hugs and cuddles? Or simple greetings to a fellow hunter or hiker?
