I would think the bottom middle. It's not static, and it conveys her bewilderment. On the rear legs, I'd swap which leg is lifted.

I like the bottom middle. She seems to be assessing her situation, bewildered (like ponyguy says).

Sometimes an artists roughs can be more interesting and appealing that a final, more "clean" drawing.

As for the reaction, it looks like you were soliciting input from JKrolak. But as long as everyone else is tossing their 2-cents in: I think these are all nice, but I would need more background on the situation. Is this person a magic user and this is the result of a spell gone wrong? In which case, just about any of these poses will do.

But if this is a completely unexpected transformation, i.e., Average Jill on the Street suddenly finds herself part horse, I would think the reaction would be more extreme, with perhaps her horse half bucking/rearing to the point of collapse.

Paige encountered the magical Book of Changes which transforms the reader into the mythical creature they see within it's pages.

She was definately not expecting a book that claimed it would aid her in researching "magical" equines ment she would find out about their lives.. first hand.

Each is a little different, as you know. Top left corner, for instance, she's surprised by her book. Top right and center, she's surprised by someone else. The one at the very bottom shows her to be surprised at herself. I think that answers the question.

Either way she seems surprised :D

Actually I am partial to the rearing picture at the lower right.
