In my regular posts, I try to find regular themes to link the pictures posted in a given week together. In my photos from my recent visit to Gdánsk in Poland, the first theme that immediately jumped out at me was the food. As such, here's a look at my culinary journey through Gdánsk!
Considered by some to be the 'cousin of the pizza', I can only assume that this version is the 'cousin of the calzone'. This beautiful parcel of goodness is called a Khachapuri - ხაჭაპური - and hails from the Caucasus nation of Georgia. While a traditional Khachapuri involves bread filled with cheese and a fried egg on top, this package includes ground pork and spices. Perfect for warming up the insides on a cold spring morning, accompanied with a vanilla-flavoured lemonade.
Hope you enjoy!

The English have a long history with pastry wrapped around meats, too.
RocketT.Coyote mentioned the pasty but I'm also thinking of Beef Wellington. Here in the States we have little frozen pies filled with meat and vegetables, like a stew in a crust. They don't microwave well and I don't like to heat up the whole house for one pie, but that's the tradition.
