For me this is something new I found on my Galaxy. The system is able to recognize the main part of the picture automatically and place it properly into the frame.
I'm not keen on smartphones very much so I have no idea when did this function update. I just want to share this lovely screenshot of me and my beloved   alrtoca . X3
