If this was my decision: Link would use a potion to turn himself into this form to infiltrate a darknut infested dungeon to get some mcguffin. He only wants to get in and get out, but the darknuts are very regimented, and link's forced to play their paramilitary games to get close to what he wants. but his new pack bonding instincts and the rewards of being a good darknut begin to erode his dedication to his mission.
