Since the second demon invasion many have started exploring Eidon in search of new lands and adventure, or in some cases rediscovering places and people known from legends such as the Dracaenea who hadn't been seen in ages due to their homeland having been nearly destroyed by natural distasters. They are now rebuilding their once great seafaring civilisation with the aid of the Amazons and their old enemy, Dakkara.
New land was also recently discovered far to the east, a sixth continent that is as yet unnamed and being charted by adventurers and explorers documenting many new species of plant, animal and monster, and most recently contact was made with a new race, the Iluurai. It is believed the Iluurai share a common ancestor at least with the Lipane as the Iluurai are quite capable primal mages and some have small horns or horn nubs and long ears similar to the Lipane. Though the Iluurai were distrustful at first peacful contact was established, though the newcomers were not permitted to enter the jungle where the Iluurai live. Only a Dakkaran and Lipane scholar were allowed to observe, although it's hard to say who is being observed by who as the Iluurai are just as curious about these new people and particularly the Lipane seems to be getting a lote more stares and questions, thoug communication is still difficult as their language is still being learned though it has some vague hints of an ancient Lipane tongue which adds to the suggestion of the Iluurai being distant relatives.
The Iluurai appear to live in dug out huts making their village rather hard to spot as the smoke of the cooking fires often blends in with the mists covering the forest floor in the morning and evening, and the roof of the dwellings just blends into the environment with it being covered in growing plants and moss. Though some structures seem to have been buit up in the trees up to and above the canopy and appears to be for religeous and cultural purposes. The Iluurai are mostly nocturnal and the village only really comes to life around sunset, though a few can be seen walking around during the day, guards and foragers mainly. Every evening villagers make their way up to the canopy platform to worship the rising moons and afterwards village life picks up with the foragers selling their gathered supplies and crafters making and mending goods, the whole place dimly lit by one large crystal suspended over the village center and several smaller ones placed around the village. These crystals catch the sun's light during the day to provide enough light for the Iluurai to see at night, and while the Lipane observer had a little trouble with the low light, their Dakkaran colleague was nearly blind in the dim light untill it picked up in intensity later in the night as if it was a full twin moon.
It was observed there seemed to be no males in the village and some villagers were still wary of the newcomers such as this female who protectively placed herself between the scholars and a smaller female. As it turns out the smaller females with their more muted colors are in fact the males who aid in feeding the young leaving the larger females free to forage, hunt and fish to provide for the entire village. The females are also very protective of their mate, nearly as much as their children. It certainly is a strange situation how these males have evolved this way to be able to feed the young in the same way as most females. Their smaller size and submissiveness is not that unusual as it's also been observed in gnolls and some races are known to be matriarchal as well. From what could be gathered from one of the village elders somethign happened in the distant past, an illness or curse which weakened the males while also giving them the ability to feed their young, some form of divine punishment perhaps? It is still unclear. But there is an upside to their state, it appears the males are now particularly gifted with powerful illusion magic, so if there is any danger they are able to hide the young with near perfect illusion magic, or drive away any invader by making them chase an illusion into the forest.
Though primitive by most standards among races on Eidon the Iluurai do seem to have some technological and mathematical knowledge to be able to build their huts and the platforms in the trees, safely and without disturbing the local environment much. The village is only the cracth on the surface as it turns out there is an entire labyrinth underneath the village with more homes, shrines and temples, and passageways connecting to other villages, which is in some ways quite similar to the almost never seen Lipane cities as the Lipane scholar attested after witnessing it all. Certainly not something one would expect to find out about a race that tends to dress in nothing but leaves and grass or sometimes even nothing at all. They also seem to able to make metal and glass tools and decorations, yet none of it is to be seen above ground as if they want to hide their true prosperity from others... It will be interesting to see how the Iluurai react to the rest of the world if they ever open up for trade or allow visitors from across the seas to enter their jungle, but also what we might be able to learn from them.
