"Aw crud. I woulda freezed it if I knew it was gonna melt that quickly."

The tigerkin could feel the sweet, still faintly chilly substance as it dropped onto his otherwise smooth fur. Saving the rest of the delicious summer treat, he quickly put the rest of the popsicle into his mouth and savored the citrus flavor.

His rabbitkin partner let out a chuckle at his misfortune.

"I told you it would melt in this heat." Giving a good-natured shrug, he continued, "But you're good, right?"

"You bet." Waving his hands over the fur on his chest, Edmund weaves a minor enchantment of water and wind, scrubbing the remnants of delicious orange off of his fur, leaving it smooth and pristine. The smile never left Mortimer's features.

"You really are amazing, Ed."

The insides of Edmund's ears grew beat red. "So are you, Mort. So are you."
