Lucatiel Ailas [New Reference]
Name: Lucatiel Hadryn Ailas (Author’s Note: The “S” in Ailas is silent.)
Species: Hadran Kynkaidi [Similar to Coyote/Jackal]
Age: 24
Occupation: Designated Marksman, Professional Sniper, Tracker for Grayline Field Team 13-31
Political Affiliation: Hadryn Clan [Corsairs]
Religious Affiliation: Atheist
Bio: I’d like to state for the record, at the request of Ms. Ailas, that the details surrounding her early life up to the moment of her reintegration into her clan are not to be shared publicly by any who read them here. She was more than generous with me in providing this information despite clear discomfort for the sake of accurate records and psychological context, and I expect anyone with clearance to view this file will have the professional courtesy to honor that request.
Lucatiel Hadryn Ailas was born to Feris Ailas and Deinava Vermonteo, the former of whom belonging to the Kahataraj [Royal Guard] of the Hadryni High Chief. As is tradition in their tribe, Lucatiel was raised solely by her father and his circle of fighters, trained from birth to become a Kahataraj herself. For necessary context, the Kahataraj are nothing less than the finest hunters in the universe. Unmatched in marksmanship, tracking, scouting and stalking, there are no finer snipers in the Trifecta’s sphere of influence, and that title comes at the immense blood, sweat and tears each of the Kahataraj put into their duty. To further elaborate, I turn to the Human penchant for symbolic parallels in calling their faction “Spartan-esque” in nature.
Lucatiel was no different in this regard. From the moment she could walk, she was already being trained in all the arts of the elite scout-sniper. Of course, the rites are a jealously guarded secret veiled in ritual and mysticism, but suffice to say Lucatiel was fully inducted, under the watchful eyes of her father, who she regarded with near god-like reverence. He was among the best of the best, with an extremely storied history and one of the largest confirmed kill records in the clan's history, so it's no wonder his daughter looked up to him. However, he was something of a loner, with ideals he was well known for having that made him an oddity among his kin, though what these were we don’t entirely know.
What we do know is that, soon after Lucatiel began going on missions with her father at the age of 13, a sinister overtone began to take shape that Lucatiel was unable to ignore. Her father always seemed to go for “secondary targets” during his outings, and while for a long while he wouldn’t take his daughter on these detours, she was already sharp enough to connect the timing of his side trips with the notable assassination or disappearance of a Hadryn scientist, Abeyic navigator, or professional scout. This mounted confusion above all else, but for a time she chose to keep silent, trusting her father had a good reason. After all, even to this day Cultists are rife within the fringes of mammalian society, and it's the primary duty of the Kahataraj to hunt these traitors.
However, a fateful day soon came, which, assuming his daughter was fully indoctrinated to follow his commands blindly, and obey her father’s authority to the fullest, that he revealed to her his purpose. Feris Ailas was, himself, a cultist, a perfectly hidden cell with the unique position to attack countless vital targets from within, without anyone ever knowing. He hoped to bring his daughter into the fold, and her final test was to assassinate her first “friendly” target. So complete was Feris’ hubris in his power to control Lucatiel, that he turned his back to her while she carried her rifle in her arms.
The reply was instant, a shot at point blank range that couldn’t miss, aimed fast, and piercing directly through Feris’ heart. As Lucatiel tells it, her fathers last words, though a gurgle of blood as he attempted to claw his way back towards her on the ground, were: “How could you?”
Lucatiel, while heavily trained, was still a child, and made the assumption she’d be punished for her fathers’ crimes. So instead, she fired an emergency flare, took her fathers rifle, and ran. The search party that followed found Feris, and the proof of his treachery, but could not find Lucatiel. They searched for months in the colonized pocket of Abeyance she’d disappeared into, but in a tragic irony, she assumed they were seeking her to punish her, when in reality they simply wanted to bring her home. Despite their continued cries for her to reveal herself, that she was not in trouble, she guessed incorrectly they were trying to trick her.
Lucatiel would spend four entire years on her own, using what she’d learned to survive and even thrive, often picking off cultist parties on her own and stealing their supplies, all the while learning more and more how to be a true hunter. She became something of a legend, the vengeful spirit of Feris’ daughter, still fighting her fathers’ betrayal to regain her honor by taking out swathes of cultists. As a result of this, she has the second longest lapse of interaction with Abeyance in the 13-31, behind only Jacklynn.
However, thankfully, after those four long years, Lucatiel would decide it was time to face her clan. Every year a small, dedicated group had searched for her on the anniversary of her death, and it would be Reina, Lucatiel’s childhood friend who trained alongside her, that she’d reveal herself to. Rather than a swift trial and a cold execution, Lucatiel was taken aback by affection, joy, and a massive celebration. The clan’s loyalty and understanding towards the young Kynkaidi had a profound effect on the once lonely, demon-chased woman, or in her own words “A light turned on in me that night, and it’s yet to go back out.”
One could say the night of her return celebration was when the Lucatiel we know and love was born, and when she took the name Hadryn alongside Ailas, to show her loyalty to her people. That night she was also gifted the rifle she uses to this day, abandoning her fathers weapon to carry on with one made especially for her: Morning Rain. After rejoining the clan, Lucatiel officially completed her training to become a Kahataraj, completing the final trail at the age of 24. However, instead of joining the Chieftain’s guard, she instead chose to put her talents to use with Grayline, and was quickly assigned to the 13-31, per my suggestion, after her initial evaluations were complete.
Weapons/Tactics: As a sniper, naturally, Lucatiel’s primary weapon is her rifle Morning Rain. Though mammals have an infuriating habit of not categorizing their weapons in any way, Lucatiel was kind enough to provide a more thorough description of the weapon. Morning Rain is an anti-material, kinetic railgun, firing Class 7 caseless Anubium bullets. armor-piercing, cover-penetrating, pinprick accurate, deceptively quiet, with an extremely high velocity and minimal drop rate. The rifle is semi-automatic, with a split railgun barrel, back-loaded design, 10 shot magazine, and a state of the art AR-holographic scope. Painted in a night camo palette, with a small clan charm tied to its stock, it is simple but fiercely efficient and effective. In fact, as a Reptilian, I find myself incredibly fascinated by its design, as it puts even the best Ordra rifles to the test. It is said Hadryn Gunsmiths are among the best alive, and it's rumored they never make the same gun twice, always fitting the rifle to its owner. If so, Morning Rain was definitely made for Lucatiel. It is a machine of death, handed out with surgical precision and restraint. Lucatiel is not out for kill count, after all.
Otherwise, her kit is of the classic nature of a hunter and scout. Binoculars, scent-maskers, camouflage gear, gun repair kits, and all other tools of the trade for a professional sniper. Lucatiel can stay in one spot, practically unmoving, for days at a time. She can detach herself from the main team with incredible ease for as long as necessary and at a moment's notice. Also, since high ground is sacred to sharpshooters, and reaching the best nests often requires hiking and climbing, so she prefers to travel light, only packing what's absolutely necessary, and preferring close, tight clothing that allows her to stay flexible but won’t catch or drag, including a light poncho-hoodie to cover her head. Simple is often best, and in a manner of speaking she is the perfect yin to Elliot’s yang. The two work very well together.
A key detail of her clan's culture should also be noted here. As many would likely suspect, the unique coloring of Lucatiel’s fur is not natural. Like the rest of her kin, she is naturally desert-colored, tan and cream by birth. However, when a Hadryn earns the rank of Master, they undergo a four day ritual ceremony in which they permanently dye their fur in a camouflage palette and patterning of their choice. This marks them as an elite among their kin, and doubles as both an effective trait and psychological warfare. Even the most radical Cultists fear the “Painted Ones’ with nearly the same horrible awe as they do the Ordra’s Verashka synth warriors. Lucatiel chose a simple but effective night-camo palette.
Personality Notes: At first glance, Lucatiel will likely seem distant, aloof, shy, and anti-social. She likes to keep her distance, stay out of sight, doesn’t talk much, and seems to possess a faint, unshakable hunch in her casual stance. However, most of this is the result of her lifelong training and extended period of isolation, and the facade of a quiet tomboy wisps away very quickly the moment something or someone catches her interest or attention. She appears distant when not at the center of attention because she is trained to keep her eyes on the horizon, scanning her surroundings. She appears aloof at times because she spent much of her young life alone, and she often forgets to “put on her social face” when out in public. The sense of shyness is merely Lucatiel’s distaste for unnecessary smalltalk. She speaks when spoken to and when she has something distinct to add to the conversation or say to someone in specific, otherwise, naturally, she stays silent. As for the anti-social aspect, she is quite the opposite. You just have to keep your eyes open. Look high, or in dark corners, or little sneak spots where you don’t expect to see someone. She is quiet, extremely quiet. Often she can enter a room packed with people and no one will realize she’s even there until she opens her mouth. Her team endearingly refers to this as a “Lucatiel Jump-Scare”
Lucatiel is, in fact, quite friendly, sociable, warm, and witty. She cares deeply for those around her, and is quick to take note of what her friends and coworkers like and dislike. She is often the first to offer a quick hug, pat on the back, or fistbump for a job well done, and seems to know how to play off people expertly. She has a seemingly endless calm about her, and a deeply thick skin, nothing seems to phase her. Any attempted insult simply gets bounced off her hide, often attached to a scorchingly casual rebuttal. She performs exceedingly well under stress, and makes good use of her downtime to prepare for her next missions, though at times it seems she can somewhat forget to socialize. Her teamwork is… acceptable. When allowed to go off on her own and do her thing, she excels, but in scenarios where she needs to take orders from someone else, she can often simply ignore them for what she believes is best. This has proven problematic in the past, and hopefully her time with the 13-31 will help mellow her ‘lone wolf’ tendencies.
Lucatiel keeps close ties to her clan, however, which has formed a sore spot when it comes to some other mammals. Clan Hadryn is, as many know, a Corsair Faction clan, which means the other factions often see them as distrustful, dishonorable criminals. This has proven to be one of Lucatiel’s achilles heels. She will not tolerate unfounded insults to her clan or her people, and while she is calm enough to never resort to violence, suffice to say she is extremely viper-tongued when she wishes to be. Also, it should be noted that Lucatiel can hide her true feelings a bit… too well. She is not a stone statue, but she is extremely skilled at internalizing her negative feelings and hiding her pain. I have notable worries about this habit, as it could begin to overflow if not healthily disposed of. Something to keep note of.

At LONG last, Lucatiel has been redesigned and finally matches the mental image i've had of her for so long. Eh... well, you can't see it well here, but the nude varient will show her off way better naturally XD
I'm really happy with how her clothes came out, though down the line her rifle might receive some reworking depending, but this is a good base to start on for it.~
