This is a quick sketch of the capital city that D. Dan lives at. It is not precise and the left hand side needs shorter skyscrapers. But, nonetheless, it is a rough estimate of what the city looks like while looking at it from across the bay, which is located at the bottom. ^\/^.
The city is built upon an artificial round plateau of about 33 by 33 miles. The plateau is reinforced by an thick wall all around and is nearly vertical. Entrance to the city on the upper levels is by the royal highways that are above ground highways and, are themselves, accessed by ramps in various places elsewhere like towns and other road networks. ^\/^.
Below the city is an artificially made bay that was once a fjord and canyon that led out to the sea. The bay is protected by the natural walls and cliffs that have been left around the opening to the sea. On the other 3 sides of the bay are thick walls nearly pure vertical leading down to the bay and port areas.
The side walls have road and rail networks on the top as well as a large board walk size walkway leading along nearly the full length. In the middle of the walls are canals that carry water safely from the river that leads into the city and helps to feed the network of 3 moats that help protect the city. The water also feeds the surrounding farmlands for many miles to nearly the entire extent of the whole kingdom.
The bay area can be accessed by a number of different roads, ramps and public transportation networks within the wall and underground area of the middle area of the plateau that leads to the bay area. The bay area is itself a large city that exists on a narrow series and strips of land that hug the walls and loop around to form yet another protected bay area where the docks and naval yards are at. The naval yard is in the middle of the outer area and the shipping and public docks are inside. Besides the naval and shipping docks, the area also has natural and artificial beach areas and resorts that cater to tourists and vacationers. ^\/^.
The moats on the outside of the city, besides adding to the protection of the city, also have farms and towns dotted along the ringed areas of land. The towns differ from being normal towns, to resort towns, farming towns, military outposts and towns made up of family estates that a few of the lords live in. The farms in this area grow a large variety of crops from common to uncommon foods and a few pastures for farm animals. The moats also act as artificial lakes for sailing, fishing, lakeside resorts and beaches and other lake type activities and industries.
The river that leads into the city is powerful at first, but its power is reduced by the canals that help to stabilize it within the city. The river is also split upstream to further stabilize it and is lead into an artificial waterfall on the right hand side of the picture. This particular part of the river is allowed to speed up as natural to feed the numerous amount of turbines that produce all the electricity needs of the city. The power left over also helps feed the power needs of 88 percent of the kingdom.
The capital city holds about 47 percent of the kingdom's population and is the country's largest city. The other surrounding kingdom's have larger cities, but most are not as well planned and protected as this one. The kingdom has only 2 other large cities.
