Pain is the sun to Moonbeam's, well, moon. He doesn't think that highly of himself, though. When they met, he though of Moonbeam as a goddess - his goddess - and he fell for her hard. However, even long after he came to understand her as the salt of the earth, brave, loving person that she truly is, he still thinks of himself as a nobody at best, and a monster at worst. Of course, his love for those around him, including Moonbeam, illustrate how much he's really worth. He is resilient and kind and always cracking jokes. He may not be the brightest (mentally), but to Moon, he shines. He's the golden retriever to Moonbeam's black cat, the sun to her moon, the answer to her question.


To be clear, Pain is both the dragon and human in this art. Canonically-speaking, Pain and Moonbeam are dragons and only dragons. Their human designs are non-canon silliness, AU shenaniganery, theoretical goofiness... in other words, they're just for fun lol!
