So, I got this antique teak display case for just about 60$. It's 1 meter wide by 50 cm, about waist high, with bevel glasses covering four sides (Rear side is a mirror). Bought it for the price without real plan on how to best use of it.
I was originally thinking of using it for an oval N-scale railroad layout, but immediately got shelved as 1) had to drill the base for the electrical, damaging this beautiful case and 2) railroad stuffs are getting hard to get nowadays, with very steep import prices.
Another idea was to make a 1/144 airport gate diorama, especially with Bra.Z model releasing awesome 3D printed jetways and terminal building. Again, very cost restrictive, might or might not get realized.
Best one so far was to build a 1/48 flightline diorama, I already have 1/48 F-104 for a start so maybe a rendition of North Ramp at Udorn RTAFB might not be far-fetched. Being major US base in Thailand they have some collection of aircraft to be displayed: RF-101, F-102, F-104, F-4, A-1, though no F-105 and A-7 which were mostly stationed at Korat and Takhli RTAFB or F-5 which were in Bien Hoa and Da Nang, S. Vietnam (could be still included as "visiting" aircrafts). This one could be realized for the cheap because it would only need concrete revetments that are easily built up using plasticards, plus the mirror on the back can give an illusion of back-to-back parking area, making the diorama "Busier".
Would love to hear what you all might have in mind, if anything, I could still use it to display my 1/32 Hawker Hunter which is yet to be built.

To be honest the easiest and cheapest option, while retaining lots of possibilities.

Decades ago I managed to score an old Drug store display case Roughly 6 feet long by almost 3 feet wide with two glass shelves that run its length....for FREE. Thing weighs a ton, but damn, it displays my stuff well. Though currently in storage cause theres literally no room in my tiny apartment. I hope I can eventually move my ass to Arizona and set things up again.
It held numerous built tank kits, and a shit ton of militaria , like numerous German, American, Japanese decorations, a captured NVA flag , taken during the Tet Offensive, WW1 German Picklehaub, Gas Mask, Stick grenade and egg grenade, Numerous WW2 grenades, Various WW2 German WehrPass', Numerous German armbands , My Grandfathers Krag Bayonet, dog tags, Numerous various rounds of Heavy .50 Machine gun ammo, 20MM ammo, 25MM, 30MM rounds (many live) , CS grenades, various MK18 Smoke grenades (live) And even Roman slingshot ammo used at the battle of Zargoza Spain in 52BC, numerous original Roman, Greek period Arrowheads, Medieval German, French Crossbolt heads. AND original cannonball fragments , one the size of a boot heel, from the Battle of Apache Pass in 1862 that I found. First time Federal troops used cannon against the indians. They fired 25 rounds at the Apache, the fragments I found was from a round that went over the heads of the Apache and landed behind them. Cause the main battle site was well swept with metal detectors. I also found a few spent casings from Ft Bowie with the Cannon Fragments on display. Along with a centuries old Pima indian stone axe head I found as well.

What about local sourced militaria? Surely your area would be somewhat rich in WW2 British, Japanese items, even American. No antique stores in your area? I have doubts you'd have military collectables shows, but They have them in Hong Kong, Japan. The late Ted Sheppard would frequently fly to Japan with WW1 and WW2 German gear, and since that stuff is rare in Japan. He'd trade/sell for high demand Japanese items to sell/trade back in the states that are rare. And they would more than cover his expenses in Japan.
I have some original WW2 German and American photos I could send you to start if interested. Surely those could get through customs.
