Emperor Mokore had used fur from love tufts they had once exchanged with each other, to make the new body. He also suffered sobriety to make sure the creation
matched the original. Reminiscing those times they spent together, to remember his lover's face, hurt him deeply. He needed this project to succeed.
It was a dream come true, a miracle even, for the self-crowned emperor when he brought his dead lover back to life, after the latter's previous, diseased body had been
cremated and scattered to the wind. At least, it would have been. Everything about this creature was a near perfect replica of the original, from what he remembers, to
even his scent, but the last, if not, most crucial detail he lacked: the soul. He had not the original's dominating personality. Mokore had found this predicament immensely
disheartening; his labor of love not yielding the desired result. He spent the following years trying to salvage the situation, but the creature, though loyal to a fault, was
someone else entirely. Mokore gave up, and accepted it was not his lover behind that face, so he had the creature wear a cowl. The doppleganger itself would feel the
rejection, and embrace its shadowed visage, going as far as to hate seeing its own face on any reflection.
The emperor would use the construct's body as a template to reshape his own image, the bodies of his people, and the new "servants" to come, turning into a
patchwork of the bears of various civilizations, until the emperor decided to alter their bodies directly.
Because Mokore was unwilling to give his creation the name of his dead lover, it opted to be called "The Second Love", however, that term itself, is a misnomer,
for the emperor does not reciprocate with it the way he does his other servants, even the lowly ones. However, he does not maltreat the construct,
merely keeping it at arms length.
Mokore has since given the construct to his benefactor, apparently, the latter was in need of soul searching of his own.
It would be many centuries later where the benefactor would have a change of heart, and pursued making a brotherhood of his own, giving those chosen philosopher stones, thaumaturgical crystals and totems. He, along with the Second Love, and a number of candidates for the brotherhood, have been researching on how to restore souls. Perhaps one day, the Second Love could be made whole, and
return into the loving embrace of his emperor.
