"Bekenstein Systems Incorporated- Tomorrow's future, today"

Otherwise known as The Bekenstein Corporation, AKA 'Bekencorp', is the megacorporation that essentially runs greater Typhon. Based in Urnsay city, BSI is the leading architect in just about everything on the planet, from public transit, to robotics, weapons, agriculture, civil engineering, power grids, medicine, astronomy and space travel, and practically every other field of science, as well as currently the pioneers of terraforming science and technology. They are also an industrial powerhouse, so even if it's owned by another company, chances are that they produce it. Their reach is so vast that the corporation has it's own military forces that keep the peace throughout the greater continent, as well as the rest of the system. BSI's greatest achievement, however, was the B-SAFE Array, which protects the people of Typhon from the hurricane season and any catastrophic tsunamis. These arrays and the technology behind them allowed civilization to *boom*, and jumped their technological innovations forward by hundreds of years!

Historically, the head of the company has been passed down through the generations of worthy heirs. From birth, the heir doesn't have much of a childhood, as they begin learning from a very young age to forge genius-level intellect in order to take over as successor, when the time comes. Although not every child is cut out for the title, and thusly, the Bekenstein family is very large to allow for some leeway. Even still, the fight for the spot of CEO is largely competitive. Anyone not interested is free to walk away at any time, lest they be outcast by the family, but most settle for a position within the company. Roughly 90% of the top employees and leaders within the Bekenestin Corporation's roster are all blood relatives in some way, and due to their growing family over centuries, it is also estimated that about 3% of the population is related to the Bekenstein family in some way.

Although the Bekenstein family is very large and extraordinarily wealthy, they do not run the planet, any of it's regions, or cities. However, they do still hold massive sway due to their leadership in practically every industry on the globe, and work with established governments and individuals in power in order to ensure the best function of society. This is what essentially makes greater Typhon an oligarchy, as if there is a large disagreement, BSI can just as easily cut power, funding and/or production, restrict food and supply lines, deploy military action, and so-on to get their way. Because of this, and contrary to popular belief, it is not uncommon for citizens to murmur in conspiracy about corruption and "who's really in control". The Silianor region is the only place on the planet largely outside of their grasp.

Fun Design Facts!
•The name 'Bekenstein' was taken from a planet in Mass Effect by the same name, which is the planet that originally inspired Typhon!
•The idea for the company's slogan actually came from the film 'I, Robot', in the USR ad you see near the beginning of the film; "Tomorrow's robot, today."
•BSI's logo was a struggle, but it hit me, and I finally settled on modelling it after the generator disc on the B-SAFE Array.
•Having the corporation be a powerful entity and make Typhon an oligarchy was originally inspired by the 'Tannan Corporation' from the video game 'Mace Griffin Bounty Hunter', who virtually had an economic monopoly over the entire system.
