how does parrying works?

Parrying is the act of redirecting the blow, as opposed to just stopping it. Depending on how much energy the attacker is expelling, depends on how they will wind up. Basically you are pushing the arm/leg rather than pushing the whole person

In this particular case, the attacker (Ben) is putting his weight into it, and Ricky with less than half the energy pushes the fist away causing Ben not only to lose balance but to expose his ribs to Ricky's left hand.

so basically,counter attack but without returning a damage?
