Taky here is a Red Mage in his universe of FF14 which is different than the version played in game. Tonberries weren't created by a curse/illness but instead just created like any other creature. At this time Tonberries were able to become more intelligent and eventually began to build their own towns and cities hidden in forests or underground.

Taky's own town is in a cave that goes under a massive tree with roots so huge that they can house Tonberries who carved them out to make long paths and connected others with small passageways. All lit up with lanterns.

Speaking of lanterns. These Tonberries keep their lanterns around but they don't stay in hand. They can clip them on their belts or hook on their outfits somewhere. They have a bit of an adverse reaction if their lanterns get broken they end up breaking down and becoming more feral. This can be fixed if another Tonberry shares their lantern by holding it close to the other until they can get a new one.

As for Taky himself. He is the team leader usually. Always one to look for adventure!
