Anything I Can Do I Can Do BETTER
This is entry #3 for Nebraskaland Days art competition, finished for my Typography class. I REALLY thought outside the box for this assignment, finishing the piece traditionally rather then digitally which is the implied coarse of action on all assignments for that class.
Did I use a computer for this? Yes I did. I scanned the pencil sketch into Illustrator CS5, arranged a font and the text I wanted into place, printed the entire result off in a very light fashion, slipped the print off on top of the original sketch with a piece of carbon paper in between, and finally traced the text onto the paper.
I was disappointed that the carbon imprint was permanent, so I HAD to use black for the type.
So the end result you see is done in various India Ink colors, drawn in an inkwell dip pen fashion and with Derwent Inktense pencils.
The text is just some pun. I believe the original quote is "Anything YOU can do I can do better."
This entry is far from intending to win compared to "Why So Serious?" or "Moon Walker" but more for just showing off the versatility of my media usage.
If anyone is REALLY paying attention to my work, they will noticed I changed the mane and tail of this Sunlight Weathervein. I plan for the change to be permanent species wide.
Faaaaaaantastic ultra omega heavy metal!
