Something like what I did, worked out my fursona based on my SL av and made some mods to it outside. I wish I had an avatar that looked like my fursona in SL.

how do you get these custom SL avatars?

Aside from having to often re-texture various things, the best way is to find various avatars one likes and start modifying them to be closer to what one wishes. For example, I can spot several parts there that are from disparate avatars, yet they've been molded into a seamless whole through recoloring, alterations, removal of some bits here and there, etc.

It IS possible, though, through large enough applications of money, to get some of the top-end av designers though to work with you though and make a one-off one of a kind av. This however might run you upwards of $100, with numbers going significantly higher than that.

The sheer amount of grotesquely overdone muscular av's is utterly ridiculous, I say. Kudos for making one that actually is plausible and attractive!
