Kroko wondering how to get Mercury's forgiveness went to Atem who just happened to be in Mist at the moment, he asked to if there's a way to make amends with Mercury, which Atem couldn't find. He told him to either accept Mercury won't be his friend at all, or make atempts that fail.
For fun, Atem told him there is a way, only if he plays a game. Kroko found himself in an eating challenge, Kroko saw a Mercury imitation above him, and Atem above him. If Kroko flattened the Lugia imitation, Kroko would win, but will lose if Atem flattens him.

Eating challenge went away, but before Kroko could finish his last bite, Atem came crashing on top of him, losing the challenge and his chance to befriend Mercury, Atem gonna enjoy his new cushion for awhile, Kroko throwing a fit that he lost, but gonna try again, despite Celery's warnings.
