
You might not have heard of him, but you probably have eaten the cookies that bear his name: "Famous Amos."
Pesonally, I met Wally Amos a very long time ago when I was little, and although I don't remember too much about it, I do remember his kazoo playing (and even getting one). The last I ever saw of him, was at my local library (pre-Pandemic), doing what he loved best: reading to children, playing his kazoo, and bringing joy to another generation of children. I didn't get a chance to talk to him, but seeing that he still got it brought a smile to my day.
The world, and especially Hawai'i, where he made his home for about 47 years (some of it in my hometown), seems a little sadder place now.
