Here's how you can make donuts at home in a flash! here's what you'll need:
- One can of Pillsbury biscuit dough (any canned biscuits will do but don't i recommend the flaky variety, homestyle or buttermilk are best)
- Oil in which to deep fry the dough. (i prefer peanut oil but im sure any variety will do)
- (optional) Chocolate icing spread
- (optional) sprinkles
- (optional) cinnamon
- (optional) powdered sugar
Start off by heating up your oil to about 375 degrees fahrenheit. I used a fry-daddy, but you can use a pan on a stove-top if you don't have one. Next, open the can of biscuits and separate them out, flatten them slightly and cut holes out of the center. For this i used the mouth of a 16oz coke bottle to "stamp" out perfect little holes. You can use the spare dough to form donut balls. Now you can start frying! Carefully lower the raw dough into the oil and allow them to fry for about a minute and a half on each side. Place the finished donuts on a paper towel to let excess oil drip off. Once dry, you can put toppings of your choice onto them. I used some icing from a can and spread it on with a knife, then decorated with sprinkles!
I recommend consuming the donuts fairly fresh, within about 12 hours of making them. For some reason they don't keep very well even when sealed in Tupperware.
