A little underwhelming for a weekly showcase, but I did the construction for 2 more Brock for the cosplay piece. All that's left is HGSS and LGPE. I'll probably one day come back for pokemon masters ex, but I don't wanna set that precedent yet. There's so many outfit designs there that it's pretty overwhelming.
At the pace I'm going, it takes me about 20-30 minutes to fully breakdown the construction and add a basic tail roughly where I'd put it if I stick with that pose. I'll probably need another 2 days to finish construction, then I can start sketching Dawn's anatomy into the pose I want. I think I'll do the 2(ish)-tone "colored sketch" shading I used for leaf again
Though I don't necessarily need to keep brock's proportions/anatomy when I only need the pose from one and the outfits from them, I'm treating it as a learning experience. Even though I'm not writing my observations, I'm making mental notes of proportion quirks and how they'll play differently when I draw dawn in a similar pose. I think I'm probably going to stick with the HGSS pose. I personally found that it's the most anatomically correct of them
Man, this file is huge. I had to downscale it 25% in order to even be able to upload it, and it's still 14,000x11,000
Each brock is roughly 4000x6000. I'm looking forward to having my board of brocks done with construction so I can resize the canvas back to the super hi-res instead of this monstrosity lmao
Also experimenting with a new brush :D
My favorite brush is still the basic G-Pen. For the Red and Leaf cosplay, I used a textured pen brush. For this I'm going to try using the round mixing brush.
While I'm still favoring the g pen, I think these cosplay sketches are a good excuse to practice with other pens
I'm excited to see how long it'll take me end-to-end. Keeping in mind that Polaris's ref sheet took me 25 days putting in at least 30-60 minutes for each of those days. So I'm doing my due diligence to track the exact timeline and see if I can get faster/more streamlined while I get more practice over time (excluding finding the reference images and setting up the canvas
* Ref finding: ~20-30 minutes. Done once before project started
* Overhead for canvas setup/resizing, layer management, etc: roughly 10mins per day (x2)
* Construction trace + Tail sketch = ~20-30 minutes per Brock x3
Total approximate time in its current state: 60-90mins of drawing and 40-50mins overhead
