The Redbone County Summer Fair is a time high in the cosy little community's social calendar, and the best part of the day is the Great Annual Pie Eating Contest! Some local citizens are well known as frequent winners, but this year, history is written. Passing through town, Delbert the Saint Bernard, chubby but hefty proprietor of a very special diner known for its vast servings, takes on the challenge. The citizens of Redbone County were amazed when he sank into his chair, his great belly bouncing like a trampoline yet arms that looked as strong as iron. When the signal was given to start, he ate up the pies like a vacuum cleaner, with unerring stamina, putting the last in his mouth a clear distance ahead of his competitors. Better still, when that year's beauty pageant winner gave him his trophy and the crowd cheered wildly, Delbert's vast belly, filled with delicious pie, burst his helpless shirt wide apart. Several Redbone County citizens caught his buttons and kept them to remember this momentous day the rest of their lives!
